13 IIT Patna professors feature in Stanford University’s list of top 2% scientists

Professors from several streams such as Computer Science, Engineering, Science and Humanities, Mathematics have featured in the list.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna’s 13 faculty members have been listed among the top 2 per cent scientists in the world, IIT Patna announced on social media. Professors from several streams such as Computer Science, Engineering, Science and Humanities, Mathematics have featured in the list by Stanford University.

“We are elated to share that 13 faculty members from IIT Patna have been ranked among the top 2% of scientists in the world by Stanford University. IIT Patna extends heartfelt congratulations to all the faculty members for their commendable accomplishment. #IITPatna #Scientist,” IIT Patna said in a social media post.

Dr Manabendra Pathak, Dr Karali Patra, Dr Surajit Paul and Dr Anirban Bhattacharya got featured in the list from the Mechanical Engineering stream. Dr Soumyajyoti Ray and Dr Naveen Kr Nishcha got selected from the Physics stream.

Dr Richa Chaudhary got enlisted from the department of Humanities and Social Sciences while from Computer Science and Engineering Dr Asif Iqbal and Dr Sriparna Saha got featured.

Dr Pratibhamoy Das from the Mathematics department got featured. Two professors Dr Udit Satija and Dr Mahesh Kumar H Kolekar from the Electrical Engineering department have been selected. On the other hand, Dr Amarnath Hegde from Civil and Environmental Engineering department got enlisted.

The list was prepared by a team of experts led by Professor John Ioannidis, the eminent Professor at Stanford University and published by Elsevier BV.

According to an official statement from Jamia Millia Islamia, around 3,352 researchers from India found a place in the list that represents the valuable impact of the country on the global research platform.

The publicly available database of over 100,000 top scientists provides standardized information on citations, h-index, and citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator, the statement said.
