Allahabad University gears up to start 10 new integrated courses under NEP 2020: Report

The new integrated programmes will be offered in food technology, fashion technology, food and nutrition, artificial intelligence, and more.

NEW DELHI: The Allahabad University is planning to introduce 10 new integrated programmes under the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, as per a report from Hindustan Times.

According to university’s PRO Jaya Kapoor, the new courses will be introduced in subjects such as food technology, fashion technology, food and nutrition, artificial intelligence, forensic sciences, music, law, disaster management, behavioural and cognitive sciences, the report said.

The decision was discussed in a meeting of all deans, heads of the department, coordinators-directors of the Centre University chaired by AU vice-chancellor, Professor Sangita Srivastava, in the North Hall on Monday, the report added.

The meeting also promised to conduct the alumni meet in November 2022, and the exact date of the reunion would be decided soon, the report said.

The Vice-chancellor formed a six-member committee of senior faculty members in line with the proposal. The heads of the departments will provide a list of the alumni of their respective departments to the committee to facilitate the event, the AU PRO said, as per the report.

During the meeting, it was also decided that Katra gate of Science Faculty campus of the university will stay open from 8.45 am to 11 am and 3.30 pm to 5 pm on all working days, as per the report.

According to the report, it was also decided during the meeting that the child care leave will be given for a minimum period of 45 days at a time. Women teachers and other staff who are unable to visit the university must apply for maternity leave and get prior permission from the competent authority.

The VC reiterated the decision to start physical classes for UG final year students from December 12, 2021 with strict Covid-19 guidelines.
