BHU, FAST-India collaborate to strengthen research system

BHU and FAST-India sign an agreement to focus on boosting research, improve research rankings, identify opportunities for improvement.

NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has signed an agreement with Foundation of Advancing Science and Technology (FAST), a non-profit organisation to reform its research ecosystem.

The collaboration aims to reform and further improve quality research and development activities of the University and boost its rankings. The two organisations to work together to identify specific opportunities for improvement in the academic ecosystem.

The agreement currently stand for a duration of nine moments, however, it can be extended after a positive performance evaluation of the project.

FAST Indian is a non-profit organisation that works towards building capacity and advancing policy solutions to foster scientific enquiry and research and facilitate creation, dissemination and translation of new-found scientific knowledge.

BHU, vice-chancellor, Sudhir Kumar Jain emphasised that boosting high quality research in BHU and fostering a research friendly atmosphere is among his priorities. He added that the required measures will be taken to ensure that efforts meant for research and development are not wasted away in the process and complexities. The agreement with FAST India is a part of the efforts in this regard.

FAST India, chief executive officer, Jayant Krishna said: "FAST India would identify measures for powering BHU’s research process and capabilities which would result in further improvements in research quality by strengthening the existing processes and structural frameworks. This assistance will also be provided to BHU in implementing these reforms. These would eventually improve BHU's research rankings."
