NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) to start free coaching for Scheduled Caste(SC) category students under Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence (DACE). The university conducted an entrance test for free Union Public Services Commission Civil Services Exam (UPSC CSE) coaching on August 7, 2022.

Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence launched one of its centres in Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on April 22, 2022. Through the initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Government of India, BHU and DACE aims to give free coaching for civil services exams for the SC students and offers inclusive opportunities. The scheme offers 100 seats for the free classes, out of which, 33 percent is reserved for eligible SC female students. The students will have access to well-maintained classrooms, a library and internet. The university will also be providing a curriculum and preparation material based on the latest patterns of the UPSC civil services exams.

Controller of Examinations, S K Upadhyaya said “it is a matter of excitement and happiness that a new beginning is being made in Banaras Hindu University which is the living embodiment of Mahamana’s vision. The team of the centre has worked really hard be it conducting of entrance exams, declaration of results or counseling. The hard work has paid well in terms of timely start of the classes”

Coordinator, Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence, R. N Kharwar, said that the Government of India has launched the scheme and BHU has implemented the programme and is providing the necessary infrastructure, now it is up to the students on how well they utilize this opportunity.”
