NEW DELHI: CAT 2023 is scheduled for November 26 and the CAT admit card 2023 will be issued on November 7. This year's CAT registration witnessed a 30% increase. With a staggering 3.3 lakh MBA aspirants vying for 1000+ seats in top b-schools, the competition to attain a 99+ CAT percentile is more cutthroat than ever.
Cracking the CAT exam 2023 with a 99+ percentile demands relentless hard work, consistency, and a determined aspiration to be a part of one of the top B-schools in India. Here are some tips that can help CAT 2023 aspirants excel in the CAT MBA entrance test.
Here we have provided top tips to crack the Common Admission Test (CAT) entrance exam which a candidate can consider while preparing for this national-level MBA entrance exam.
Follow a proper schedule
To secure the 99+ percentile in the CAT exam 2023, candidates must ensure a dedicated and consistent study regimen. They must devise and stick to a meticulous timetable devoting equal time to the preparation of each section of CAT.
Practice CAT previous-year papers
Solving previous year's CAT question papers plays a very crucial role in achieving a great percentile as these papers help the candidate draw an idea about the type of questions asked and the difficulty level of the exam. So it is advised to pile up at least the past 5 years of CAT question papers and solve them with 100% accuracy.
Take CAT mock tests
Practicing CAT mock tests on a daily basis helps the aspirant get an idea of their performance and preparation. Setting a timer before starting a CAT mock test is always recommended, as it helps in keeping a tab on the time taken for attempting all three sections. Cracking the CAT exam is about speed and accuracy. Candidates should ensure that they are completing the mock test within the stipulated time and achieving it to get the 99+ percentile in the actual exam. Analysing the CAT exam 2023 mock test is equally important to understand where they are lacking, and which section needs improvement.
The maximum time given for completion of the CAT exam is 2 hours i.e. 20 minutes to attempt 3 sections- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. It is advised to spend only 40 mins per section which candidates find a little hard and for this they should develop time management skills. These skills can be developed by solving the mock tests by setting the timer so that one can keep a record of time spent on each section.
Revision of CAT exam important topics should be on the timetable of MBA aspirants. They should avoid picking up new topics in the last month and should focus on strengthening their strong areas and working on the weaker ones. Making handy notes can help them revise the CAT syllabus quickly.
The CAT cut-offs for the most recognized IIM vary from 98-100 percentile for the general category whereas for (SC/ST) categories it is slightly low and ranges from 95 to 98 percentile. Check out top MBA colleges accepting CAT scorecards.
