NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education’ controller Sanyam Bhardwaj has said that conduct of CBSE board exams 2022 for Classes 10 and 12 in two terms will help reduce stress level of students, as per a Hindustan Times report.
Bhardwaj said that the percentage of failure will be reduced and students will get an opportunity to improve, the report said.
According to the report, Bhardwaj said: “As per the National Education Policy (NEP), the stress level of students should be reduced. So, if we conduct the board examination in two terms the stress level of the children will be less because the first exam will be half of the syllabus, the second exam will be of another half of the syllabus. The percentage of failure will also be reduced and children will get a chance to improve themselves. They will be able to focus on their studies in a better way.”
The CBSE controller added that by conducting the board exams twice, they are giving a chance to students to measure their performance and to see how much they need to prepare for the next term. The term-1 exam will let students evaluate themselves and come with better preparation and improvement in term-2, he said, as per the report.
As per the report, the decision to conduct CBSE board exams 2022 is a recommendation of NEP 2020 and an exercise under its implementation, the officials said.
"We felt the need for a solution in a situation like COVID pandemic and due to which we have decided to conduct the exam in two parts. The final result will be based on both terms. But if, due to pandemic, Term 2 doesn’t happen then the result will be according to Term 1."
Talking about holding offline exams in a pandemic, the controller said that the board and schools will ensure all safety measures.
"Examination will be conducted as per COVID guideline and not more than 12 students will be allowed in one classroom. Most of the students would be given self-centres keeping in mind the distance and the comfort level of the students," Sanyam Bhardwaj further explained, according to the report.
CBSE released the Term-1 datesheet for Classes 10, 12 yesterday. While Class 10 term 1 exam will start from November 30 and conclude on December 11, Class 12 term 1 exams will be held from December 1 to December 22.
