NEW DELHI: The second wave of COVID-19 cases have forced close to a dozen states to close schools, postpone board exams 2021 and cancel exams altogether for younger children. After review with PM Modi, Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the CBSE Class 10 exam 2021 has been cancelled and the CBSE Class 12 exam 2021 has been postponed. Education miniser Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the CBSE Class 10 students will be evaluated based on an "objective criteria". CBSE Class 12 exams will be held after a review by CBSE on June 1.

Meanwhile, 'is ICSE exam cancelled?' wondered students as CBSE Class 10 exams were cancelled. CISCE chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon told Careers360 that a decision on ICSE board exam 2021 and ISC board exam 2021 will be taken soon.

Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, for example, have postponed the state board exams; Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and several others have promoted students of several classes without exams.

West Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee said that a "decision in the interest of students" will be taken on the West Bengal Madhyamik exam date 2021. "For Class 12, June will not be a conducive month for holding exams as the students would be looking forward to their other competitive and career examinations such as NEET, BITSAT, CLAT, JEE Advanced and other both India and Abroad University applications. Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar has said that the MP board exam 2021 will be conducted after May 30. "Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, it is decided to extend the exam dates. Also, schools for Class 1 to 8 students will be closed till June 15, 2021," as per the Times of India report.

COVID-19: IGNOU convocation online

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will hold its thirty-fourth convocation in "virtual mode"  due to the "rapid surge in COVID-19 cases". The convocation is scheduled for April 15 and more that 2,35,000 students will be awarded degrees, diplomas, and certificates.

Maharashtra education minister said that the state will write to CBSE, ICSE on postponing exams

Maharashtra education minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that Maharashtra board exam 2021 will be postponed due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. The minister also said that the state government will be writing to CBSE, ICSE and other boards to take a similar decision.

Arvind Kejriwal asks to cancel CBSE board exams 2021

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday urged the central government to cancel CBSE board exams 2021. Kejriwal said that exam centres can become hotspots as the number of COVID-19 cases increased by 13,500 people in 24 hours.
