Chitkara University hosts expo for pre-service, in-service teachers

Eleven India and EU universities, colleges participated to showcase different types of pedagogic tools.

NEW DELHI: Chitkara University led an expo on pedagogical workshops and exhibitions to showcase various pedagogic tools. The expo was part of the EDUREFORM project which is being co-funded by Erasmus under the theme of “Mitigate the Impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on Indian Society: EDUcation REFORM for Future and In-service School Teachers”. Apart from Chitkara University, the project also has 11 other partners.

According to the official statement, the aim of the expo was to promote creative, critical, and analytical thinking in classrooms through the training of pre-service and in-service teachers.

During the event, the Edureform project was introduced, after which Madhu Chikara, pro-chancellor of Chitkara University launched the EDUREFORM handbook for innovative pedagogy. The event was attended by Vasudevan Natarajan, chief operating officer, super teacher edureforms pvt. ltd. who was the chief guest while Sanjeev Sohnawane, pro vice-chancellor, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Madhu Chitkara, pro-chancellor, Chitkara University, and Niyati Chitkara, director, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh, and Panchkulawas were the guest of honour. Other attendees included Pratibha Patanakr, HOD, department of education, Shivaji University; Satish P Patha, department of education, Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda; and Gipson Varghese, director, CXS solutions India pvt. ltd.

Natarajan talked about: “intriguing and thought-provoking domains like the multifaceted roles played by educators, the inclusion of novel tools and practices in the teaching-learning process, and incorporating technology as a new way of teaching, instilling future skills and tools for employability and a sustainable future.”

Other members of the project are Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Shivaji University, four European universities, namely the University of Latvia, the University of Hamburg, the JAMK University of Applied Sciences, and the Italian University Line, and two secondary schools: Chitkara International School and Liceo Artistico, Coreutico E Musicale Candiani-Bausch, and SME: CXS Solutions.

The expo included pedagogical tools created by the department of education, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, SPPU edureform team, Chitkara University, research and innovative network, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, CXS India, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh/Panchkula, Chitkara College of Education, Chitkara School of Psychology and Counselling, and Chitkara University Language Centre.
