NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court paves way for the declaration of the NEET 2021 results by staying a recent Bombay High Court order which had directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to hold a re-exam for two NEET UG aspirants.

“We’ll issue notice and stay the High Court judgement. Let the results be declared as there are 16 lakhs students who are eagerly waiting for the results,” the bench said, according to the Live Law report.

A bench comprising Justices L Nageswara Rao, Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai said that it will see what is to be done for the two students, who were prejudiced due to the mix up of the answer sheets. The bench also said that it will examine the two students' grievance in detail later, the report added.

The counsel for students said, “The invigilator mixed the copy. I had written wrong answers to the questions in haste. They were attempted in hurry & this was told to the HC. It was like a common order passed & there was no grievance made by the NTA”

The NTA on Monday sought an urgent hearing in the top court on its plea against the high court stay order.

The Bombay high court had also directed that the NTA give 48 hours clear notice to the petitioners about the date of NEET re-exam and the test centre allotted to them.

The NTA will announce the result on the official website -neet.nta.nic.in- soon. However, NEET result 2021 date and time is yet to be notified by the NTA. The result of NEET 2021 will be announced in the form of a scorecard, which can be downloaded using the application number, date of birth, password and security pin.
