NEW DELHI: More than 1,000 students have benefited from Delhi University’s Financial Support Scheme (FSS) so far amounting to Rs 1 crore, according to the university. Under the scheme, students with family income less than Rs 4,00,000 get 100 percent fee waiver while students with family income between Rs 4,00,000 to Rs 8,00,000 get 50% fee waiver.

In an official notice, DU’s Dean of Students Welfare professor Pankaj Arora said that under the guidance of registrar Vikas Gupta, the procedures of the FSS were finalised. Arora collected the necessary data from the deserving candidates. After due verification, which included the home visit of the applicants, the list of students for the disbursement of fee waivers was finalised.

Professor Arora added that this scheme reflects the government’s “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” motto. “Vice Chancellor, professor Yogesh Singh, University of Delhi, envisioned the noble idea and assigned the task of executing this scheme to the Office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare as its nodal office,” read the DU statement.

A full-time bonafide student studying at any department or institution of DU belonging to the two categories is eligible to apply. Whereas, candidates with ER or arrears of previous examination papers are not eligible to apply.
