'Whole world will benefit': Dharmendra Pradhan lays foundation stone for IIT Kanpur's medical school
The medical school will house a 450 bedded Yadupati Singhania Super Specialty Hospital and multiple CoE for R&D in futuristic medicine, MedTech devices.
NEW DELHI: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan today laid foundation stone of The Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology and Yadupati Singhania Super Specialty Hospital at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra Pradhan said, “IIT Kanpur is such an institution which has made its place on the strength of its dedication and effort. This institute has always been committed towards the upliftment of humanity and society.”
He said that the medical facilities starting in IIT Kanpur from today will be beneficial for the neighboring districts and states. “We believe that these institutes will develop into a prestigious research institute in the medical field and the whole world will benefit from them,” he said at the event.
He further said that by adopting new technology and skill based education, “we have to promote research and innovation. Alternative energy research will have to be given special attention to meet the energy sector's own needs”.
IIT Kanpur director Abhay Karandikar said, “The Gangwal School of Medical Sciences & Technology is one of its kind initiative focussing on the state of the research in medical sciences and related technologies in India by bridging the gap between healthcare and engineering disciplines.”
“The school envisages providing technological solutions to unmet medical needs in the country and the application of technology in health care delivery,” IIT Kanpur director added.
