Last night, several medical students staged a protest at Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Rohtak against a bond of Rs 40 lakh. Students were allegedly manhandled and arrested by the police. Doctor associations such as FORDA and FAIMA came in support of the students and criticised the government for using force on MBBS students.

“Water Cannons! Really!! This was not at all required. Shame ! What is required is a senseful resolution to this atrocious bond policy,” FORDA said in a tweet.

“MBBS Students arrested, harassed and brutally dragged by police! No female constable to arrest female students! This is totally violation of "Right To Equality" Only Doctors are being forced to work as bonded labour!,” FAIMA tweeted.

The Indian Medical Association, Medical Students Network, Haryana has written a letter to state chief minister Manhor Lal Khattar demanding immediate release of detained students and abolishment of bond policy.

On November 2, Khattar announced that the students taking admission in bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery (MBBS) courses need not pay a bond amount of Rs 10 lakh while taking admission in government medical colleges.
