IGNOU launches online MA in journalism programme
IGNOU MAJMC online programme is available to both Indian and foreign candidates
NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched an online postgraduate programme, MA in Journalism and Mass Communication (MAJMC). Both Indian and foreign candidates can enrol in the IGNOU MAJMC online programme from the January 2022 admission cycle.
The MAJMC programme was launched by Nageshwar Rao, the vice-chancellor of IGNOU. “The MAJMC online programme by IGNOU includes all the core areas of journalism and mass communication,” he said.
According to Uma Kanjilal, pro-vice-chancellor of IGNOU, the MAJMC possesses the advantage of having varied media courses that could help all sections of the students.
“The MAJMC programme at IGNOU aims to train students for jobs in the media and communication field. The programme will help in developing professional skills that enable the candidates to further their career opportunities.It will also enhance the skill set of working professionals in media organisations without proper formal training,” explains the course’s official website, majmc.ignouonline.ac.in.
IGNOU mass communication programme eligibility
Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility criteria to apply for the course:
Possess a bachelor's degree in any discipline.
Have access to a computer with an internet facility
Possess basic knowledge of word processing
The course duration is two years. Candidates are required to pay a fee amounting to Rs 12,500 per year. The registration fee will be Rs 200. Apart from English, the MAJMC online course is offered in Indian languages too, including Hindi.
