IGNOU launches PG Diploma in Electronic Media; apply by August 12

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) School of Journalism and New Media Studies (SOJNMS) has launched PG Diploma in Electronic Media through Open & Distance Learning mode. The new programme was launched in order to integrate recommendations of National Education Policy 2020 into its academic endeavour and provide the skill based programmes, the institute said.

The duration of PG Diploma in Electronic Media programme will be for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years. The medium of instruction for the programme will be in English. However, students can write their examinations, assignments, practicals and projects in Hindi also.

The programme fee for IGNOU Post Graduate Diploma in Electronic Media is Rs 9,500. In case of any query about the programme, candidates can reach out to the official website for more details. The interested candidates can take admission and register through ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in till August 12, 2022.

IGNOU Vice Chancellor Nageshwar Rao along with the other guests launched the programme in hybrid mode. Padma Shri Professor Pushpesh Pant and Subhash Dhuliya, former vice chancellor Uttarakhand Open University were present in the ceremony and spoke on the need to have more such skill based programmes in field of mass communication as envisaged in the NEP 2020. They also threw light on the changing dynamics of the media-landscape and need for audio and audio-visual content development training in news and other genres.

The welcome address was delivered by KS Arul Selvam, director SOJNMS, OP Deval, SOJNMS provided the brief journey of the School to the participants, and Amit Kumar, programme coordinator, presented the details of this programme. He informed that any candidate with any Bachelor's degree in any subject is welcome for the programme.

Giving the presidential address Nageshwar Rao, VC IGNOU laid stress on the requirement of such skill based programmes in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication.
