IGNOU signs agreement with ICMAI for developing ODL course on Agricultural Cost Management

NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) signed an agreement with the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) for developing an Open and Distance learning (ODL) course titled 'Diploma in Agricultural Cost Management'. The agreement was signed at CMA Bhawan in New Delhi today on April 24, 2023.

A statement from the university said that the agreement is aimed at creating awareness and human resource in the area of agricultural cost management by imparting knowledge, skills and entrepreneurial capabilities of the farming communities for effective farm cost management.

The university further said in its statements that the programme will be beneficial for the progressive farmers, urban and rural youth, small and medium entrepreneurs, extension workers, NGO trainers and self-help groups. IGNOU Pro vice chancellor Sumitra Kukreti, Registrar Umesh Chander Pandey and faculty of school of agriculture at IGNOU, Mukesh Kumar were present on the occasion.

Senior director of IGNOU, DP Nandy welcomed all the guests on the occasion, while Praveen Kumar Jain gave an overview on the agreement, while informing everyone that the diploma course will be developed under the same.

Registrar of the university, UC Pandey said: "IGNOU is the best university for offering such programmes, keeping in view the large target group and the programme will be offered through its wide network of learner support centres".

P Raju Iyer from CMA said: " Different universities and institutions will be interested in enrolling the students under this programme". University pro vice chancellor Kukreti congratulated both the university officials as well as the ICMAI and said that it is a momentous occasion for both the institutions.
