NEW DELHI: International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad's Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) held it's annual flagship event, Megathon 2022. This year's event was the Institute's largest student-run hackathon to date.

The event gathered of over 700 technology-driven youth from 30 colleges. The 24-hour hackathon focused on four problem statements- two were presented by Stellantis, one from Qualcomm and the last one from Raj Reddy Centre for Technology and Society (RCTS).

After rounds of different pitches, team 'AlphaQueue' won the first place for the problem statement by Stellantis while team 'Pied Pieper' came in at the second place. 'Le Boys' took the prize by Qualcomm while 'Hack Your Mom' and 'What the Hack' jointly won the social problem round.

After one round of selection, the pre-jury selected 23 teams that went on to present their pitch to the final jury at the event. The final jury comprised of Goldman Sachs managing director, Alok Madhukar; Angel investor, Anish Anthony; innovator and ex-PWC risk management partner, Murali Talasila; GMR Cargo CEO, Saurabh Kumar; Qualcomm, Madhusudanan Kandasamy and Stellantis vice president and head of India digital hub, Rahul Rajupalepu.

The teams shortlisted for the Stellantis problem statement will get an opportunity to be part of a bigger hackathon and participate to pitch their ideas.

Speaker at the event, Ramesh Loganathan started the event by introducing the students to CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), IIIT Hyderabad's own start-up incubator. He was followed by IIIT-H Dean Research and Development, CV Jawahar and Kannan Srinathan, who talked to students about the entrepreneurial spirit of problem solving.
