IIM Bangalore team wins Rs 4,50,000 at 7th Samsung EDGE campus programme

Team Transcendence from IIM Bangalore won a cash prize of Rs 4,50,000 along with Samsung’s flagship smartphones and PPO's from the company.

NEW DELHI: Team Transcendence from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore bag a Rs 4,50,000 cash prize at the seventh edition of Samsung's E.D.G.E campus programme. Over 9,000 students from 27 institutes participated in the programme.

Shreyas S, Amrita Singh and Shinde Chaitanya Sharad from Team Transcendence, IIM-Bangalore took the first prize in the national round. This team presented an unconventional solution around enhancing adoption of internet of things (IoT) devices among consumers in India. In addition to the cash prize, they also won Samsung’s flagship smartphones and pre-placement offers from Samsung.

Samsung E.D.G.E is a two-month long programme that is conducted over three rounds of evaluations, This year, the programmes saw participation from over 2,700 teams. The first round consists of a presentation of an executive summary after thorough research and ideation from each group. After evaluation, one team from each campus is selected. These teams then are to work on a case study, submit and present detailed solutions in a reginal round.

A total of 9 teams were shortlisted and mentored by Samsung’s leaders to battle it out for the top 3 spots in the national round. Team Srujan from National Institute of Design (NID) Bangalore stood second with a design solution for modern ways of direct communication with consumers using gamification through full motion video. They won a cash prize of Rs 3,00,000 and pre-placement interviews with Samsung.

In the third place, team G.U.G. from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) presented a solution to enable consumers to experience the connected devices ecosystem through an in-store smart home model and a Metaverse experience store and won a cash prize of Rs 1,50,000.
