IIM Shillong holds commencement ceremony for 309 PGP students, 16 PhD scholars

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong hosted the commencement ceremony for the batches of post graduate and doctoral programmes. About 309 post-graduate programmes (PGP) management students, five full-time PhD scholars and 11 PhD working professionals were "honoured" at the ceremony. The ceremony is being held for the first time in physical mode after the lockdown, said a statement from the institute.

Anurag Batra, who is the chairman and editor-in-chief of BW Business World, and Ashoke K Dutta, the first director of IIM Shillong were the chief guests for the IIM Shillong graduation ceremony. DP Goyal, director of IIM Shillong delivered the welcome address and congratulated the students for successfully getting enrolled.

Dutta, while addressing the graduates, explained the importance of clinical research. He further asked the graduates to start with a company, and to be lifelong learners and be passionate about solving societal challenges. He shared his personal experiences and said that all should follow the rules and not defy the law.
