NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIM) Udaipur Incubation Centre has inaugurated the first batch of the new Women-in-Tech (WiT) accelerator programme for female founders of start-ups with the aim to encourage and support women’s participation in tech, data, and management careers. About 15 women entrepreneurs will be selected for the acceleration program by the IIM Udaipur Incubation Centre by assessing the application form and interviews. The women-led startups that qualify for the IIM Udaipur course will receive a cash prize of up to ₹50,000, training, mentoring and technical guidance, claims the institute. These startups will also be introduced to corporate leaders and industry experts, and they will get networking opportunities with potential investors. The selected startups will also receive ongoing advisory support for the next 12 months.
Only about 24 percent of women hold senior leadership positions in technology, says the data by IDC. The IIM Udaipur Women-in-tech accelerator programme intends to support gender diversity in the workplace and hence add value to business, economy, and society.
