IIT Bombay, Plaksha University sign agreement for joint research, internship opportunities

The agreement will enable sharing knowledge and research in computer science, AI, robotics, advance manufacturing, bioengineering among others.

NEW DELHI: Plaksha University and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay sign an agreement for joint research and internship opportunities for students at both the institutions. The agreement was signed between Plaksha University, founding vice-chancellor, Rudra Pratap and IIT-B, director, Subhasis Chaudhuri.

Under the agreement, both the institutions will be exploring knowledge sharing and research in domains including computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and cyber-physical systems, advanced manufacturing, bioengineering and education technology.

The mutual partnership will be enabling both parties to have visits and exchange of faculty members, students and research scholars. There will be joint research with both institutions along with exchange of information, development and publications. The students will have internship opportunities for students at labs of respective institutions along with special short-term programmes at undergraduate and graduate levels. Both the institutions will also hold joint conferences and symposia.

On the occasion, Plaksha University, founding vice-chancellor, Rudra Pratap, said: "It is an honour to work with IIT Bombay. This partnership is aligned with our goal of providing contemporary technology programs with a razor-sharp focus on research-based pedagogy. It is an excellent opportunity for faculty and students to access experiential technical education at both institutions that will ultimately enhance their intellect, ideas, dynamism, and passion for innovation."

Speaking about the partnership, Subhasis Chaudhuri, said: “Time has come that quality higher education goes much beyond the walls of public institutions. Setting up Plaksha University is a wonderful initiative on this front. IIT Bombay will always support such an initiative and I am sure there would be miles that IITB will walk together with Plaksha”.
