IIT Delhi, education ministry to jointly organise mental wellness workshops today

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi with the ministry of education will be organising a workshop to promote mental wellness and stress management, and provide strategies for dealing with stress in academic and personal settings. The mental wellness workshop mainly focuses on addressing the pressing issue of mental health among students.

The workshop jointly hosted by the education ministry and IIT Delhi is scheduled to begin today at 2 PM in the Senate Room of IIT Delhi's main administrative building. The event has been planned to provide valuable insights from renowned mental health professionals, specialists, and distinguished speakers. The workshop will focus on the importance of investing in the mental and emotional health of individuals. It consists of the following 4 major verticals:

  • Importance of Communication – parent, student, faculty; use of AI/ML.

  • Psychiatry, counselling, accessibility, event organisation.

  • Governance Reforms – Capacity Building, Grievance Redressal, Evaluation, Ownership

  • Curricular Reforms & Implementation – Ways of yoga and meditation, stress management, experiential session, etc.

Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Birla Institute of Science and Technology (BITS), All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Xavier School of Management (XLRI), National Institute of Technology (NIIT), Indian Institute Of Management (IIM) will also be taking part in the mental wellness workshop.

As per the schedule, IIT Delhi director — will be delivering the welcome address, followed by presentations by subject experts.

In April, the Council of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) discussed the issues related to mental health, and student wellness.
