NEW DELHI: Researchers and scientists at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi developed a software called 'MechAnalyzer', to facilitate the convenience of engineering students in learning how to build machines and robotic devices. The software was developed by the professors at the mechatronics department of the institute, a statement from the institute said.

An agreement was also signed between IIT Delhi and SVR InfoTech, a firm based in Pune for the authorised sale and technology support for the software. The agreement was signed by Managing director of FITT, IIT Delhi, Anil Wali and SVR InfoTech CEO Vinod Atpadkar.

The institute informed in its official press release that the software named 'MechAnalyzer' contains features for animation for understanding the motions of mechanisms like 4/5/6 bar linkages, cams and gears, so that students can learn concepts including inversions.

The graphics have been designed in such a way that will catch the attention of students and will facilitate their learning process, the institute further said.

Many external interns also worked for the development of the software, which included Rajeevlochana Chittawadigi from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bangalore and others.

Mechanical engineering department professor SK Saha said: "The impetus towards signing for Mechanalyzer software after the signing of the RoboAnalyzer software in 2022 is a strong indicator of the faith of the industry in indigenous software development".
