IIT Gandhinagar to organise science, technology fair for Class 10, 12 students
Over 1,500 students are expected to attend the IITGN science and technology fair on April 15, 2023. Students and schools can register on iitgn.ac.in.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) will be holding a day-long science and technology fair on April 15, 2023 for school students of Class 10 and 12. Nearly 1,500 school students are expected to visit and participate in 'G20-Ignite' fair at IITGN. Students and schools can register for the event at IITGN's official website- iitgn.ac.in.
The fair aims to rekindle curiosity in the next generation of engineers, scientists and researchers through various exciting, workshops, competitions and interactive showcases and exhibitions. The activities at the event have been curated by student technical council and its associated clubs and hobby groups, Centre for Creative Learning (CCL), Maker Bhavan, and IITGN student initiatives such as HackRush.
Competitions in hardware programming, game development, understanding blockchain technology and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), treasure hunts and quizzes based on science and technology, astronomy workshops, structural engineering contests, will be a part of the IITGN fair. The IITGN student fair will be aiming to break two world records.
In addition to this, the students will also experience entertainment through silent DJ, light and sound show, 3D printing and laser cutting technologies, research showcase, SciTech- themed entertainment among other events. The event will also include hands-on workshops to foster out-of-the-box thinking, problem-solving, and active learning along with demonstrations by breaking down the concepts of science and technology using models, experimental set-ups, and showcases.
Talking about the initiative, IITGN dean Amit Prashant said: “Since its inception, IIT Gandhinagar has been a crucial facilitator of teaching, knowledge dissemination, innovative research, and interactive outreach programmes in STEAM fields. Through ‘G20-Ignite’, we want Gen-Z to celebrate and pursue the wonders of science, technology, discovery, and innovation. It will also provide school students, college representatives, and interested stakeholders an opportunity to experience IITGN’s in-house technological prowess, state-of-the-art infrastructure and research facilities, and creative learning programmes.”
