NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) Kanpur announced three key partnerships with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and Dassault Aircraft Services India (DASI), all of which are aligned with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with the aims of empowering and preparing local youth for the aerospace and defence sectors, specifically to support the Defence Industrial Corridor in Uttar Pradesh.
The collaborations are aimed at the holistic development of youngsters, particularly those in the state of Uttar Pradesh, by providing them with access to modules on the aviation and defence sectors. The objectives is to create advanced skill training centres by learning from and assimilating best practises from international skill institutions. The courses were designed by partnering with subject matter specialists of IIT, Kanpur.
Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Advance Manufacturing, Krishi 2.0 Smart Agriculture, Robotics and Automation, and other courses will be covered in the modules.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will establish a training infrastructure for a CNC lab at the new IIS Kanpur facility as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) under another strategic partnership. The initiative intends to familiarise faculty and trainees at IIS Kanpur to CNC machining technology while also facilitating training, re-skilling, and up-skilling for the target demographic. The purpose is to prepare trainees for industrial jobs, hence boosting Skill India initiative. Furthermore, this initiative aims to increase collaboration between academia and industry by establishing a shared engineering environment allowing for more effective knowledge exchange.
The partnership with Dassault Aviation will aid in the establishment of an Aeronautical Structure and Equipment Fitter (AS&EF) course at IIS for the purpose to provide long-term training in the aviation sector in Kanpur. As part of the partnership, a Dassault Aviation Centre of Excellence for Aeronautical vocational training is being established in the IIS building at the Kanpur Campus.
The agreements were signed today at New Delhi in the presence of Dharmendra Pradhan, union minister for education, skill development and entrepreneurship.
Speaking on the occasion Pradhan said that the collaboration between IIT Kanpur, Indian Institute of Skills, Kanpur, HAL and Dassault Aircraft Services India, marks a significant chapter towards shaping the future of skill development and empowering India’s youth. He stated that for the first-time ever-educational institute, skilling institutions and industry are coming together to synergise efforts to certify and future-proof youth. Pradhan further said that futuristic courses under this collaboration is the PM's gift to the youth and workforce of our country. This collaboration will pave the way for leveraging opportunities emerging out of UP’s defence corridor as well as for creating new opportunities for skilling, up-skilling, employment and entrepreneurship in the aerospace, aviation and defence sectors, he added.
