IIT Kharagpur-AI4ICPS launches certification course on AI with TCS iON; 80% practical learning
IIT Kharagpur: The certification course will commence on September 2 and will end on December 2. The course fee is Rs 4,998.
NEW DELHI: On the occasion of third anniversary of National Educational Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), AI for Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems (AI4ICPS), a national AI Hub, established by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur under the guidance of department of science and technology (DST), Government of India announced the launch, “Hands-on AI for the real-world applications (HAAI)’ programme.
“This certification programme is set to democratize education in AI technologies for skill development of youth and professionals with the goal to massively educate 1 lakh people as part of nation building,” the institute said. The course is a blend of theoretical foundations and hands-on practical learning
The course was launched by IIT Kharagpur director VK Tewari in the presence of Venguswamy Ramaswamy, global head of TCS iON, IIT Kharagpur along with Amit Patra, deputy director, Pabitra Mitra, project director of AI4ICPS among other dignitaries.
The certification course will commence on September 2 and will end on December 2. The course fee is Rs 4,998.
As per the eligibility criteria, freshers, students pursuing undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) who aspire for a career in the field of AI will be able to enrol. Working professionals looking for a career transition as AI/ML engineer and individuals with basic programming knowledge looking to build their careers in IT are also eligible.

Hands-on approach to AI
This 3-month weekends-only online programme is offered by the faculty of IIT Kharagpur from computer science, electronics, electrical and mathematics departments and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) scientists. The real-world applications are offered by industry experts along with the research scholars of IIT Kharagpur with hands-on practical learning, the institute said.
The programme will include 80% practical learning and 20% theoretical learning. Some of the highlights of the courses are industry preparedness, AI4ICPS hub, modular quizzes, tips and tricks and assignments, discussion rooms, some real-world datasets, live doubt-clearing by the experts. Additionally, certificates of merit will be awarded for top 1% candidates and an opportunity to interact with industry professionals and resume preparation guidance by AI4ICPS will also be provided.
IIT Kharagpur director said that the AI certification programme is designed to meet the rapidly evolving AI industry. It is also structured to implement the NEP 2020 recommendations such as education for all, concepts based and hands-on interdisciplinary learning, upskilling for employability and digital technology enhanced virtual classrooms.
“AI4ICPS has brought in TCS iON, a strategic unit of TCS focused on educational institutions and examination boards, as a platform and outreach partner for this certification program. As a partner, TCS iON will provide LMS platform services and massive outreach to institutions of India and another target audience,” it said.
