IITPKD Oorja Grand Challenge: The last date to apply for the IIT Palakkad national grand challenge is March 1, 2022

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad is set to launch a national contest, “Oorja Grand Challenge” under its Technology IHub Foundation (IPTIF), to promote innovation, research and development in the energy sector. The challenge will serve as a pre-incubation activity to promote innovation in the energy sector.
Application for the IIT Palakkad national grand challenge is open from January 10, 2022. Candidates can apply to participate in the event until March 1, 2022. The registration for the IITPKD programme can be done at oorja-challenge-registration.
“The winners of the IIT Palakkad Oorja Grand Challenge can avail prize money from the range of Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. The objective of this initiative is to facilitate the design and development of ‘intelligent collaborative systems' in the energy sector. Students, researchers and entrepreneurs can participate in the challenge in teams,” said a statement from the IIT PKD.
“The nation-wide oorja grand challenge is initiated to promote technology solutions in the energy sector. These solutions should be safe, efficient, and feasible,” said Albert Sunny, director of IPTIF.
IPTIF was established by IIT Palakkad to develop an innovation ecosystem for technology-based start-ups. The company has Rs 100 Crore-funding support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India.
“A webinar series will also be conducted by the IPTIF from 11th January to 24th February 2022. The webinars will take place on all Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays of each week between this timeframe,” the statement said.
“We are focused on safe green energy generation technologies with high energy density,” said Harilal Bhaskar, general manager of IPTIF.
