IIT Patna organises 3-day CEP programme 'Resource Optimization in Process Industries'

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna held the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) international symposium on 6G wireless mobile communications. The two-day symposium was held to discuss network building and knowledge enhancement in the broad areas of 6G wireless and mobile communications.
The attendees discussed various topics such as the need for conducting awareness and training programs to avoid cyber attacks, possible technologies of 6G and other challenges, benefits and dimensions of 6G. The symposium had an industry academia roundtable that was attended by experts from academia, industry and government.

IIT Delhi, Mahesh Abegaonkar; IIT Patna, Preetam Kumar; Government of India, deputy director general, department of telecom, Abdul Kayum; Samsung India, vice-president, Amit Mannan; Rakuten, vice-president, Mudit Goyal and Radisys Corporation, vice-president, Rajdeep Yadav expressed their views. The meeting was moderated by IIT Patna, assistant professor, Amit Kumar Singh.
The panelists discussed the mentioned topics in depth and told the researchers that their focus should be on sustainability and wealth creation to make India self-reliant in the next generation of telecom industry.
Mahesh Abegaonkar discussed the effect of high frequency data transmission on the human body and denied any danger. He further explained that as frequency increases the range of data transfers decreases as there is a wide spectrum available. Adding to the discussion, Abdul Kayum talked about the use of Millimeter Wave and Tera Hertz in 6G to provide ultra high data speed to the consumer and how there is a need to reduce the cost of deployment of such technologies.
Amit Mannan also discussed about the possible technologies of 6G and described reconfigurable intelligence surface, metamaterial, tactile internet, satellite network, mesh network, split computing among other topics as being useful to solving the challenges pertaining to 6G. He further gave a brief overview of the 6G research work conducted around the world.
