IIT Patna organises 3-day CEP programme 'Resource Optimization in Process Industries'
The main aim of the course is to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical aspects of optimization theory and algorithms.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) organised a three-day online Continuous Education Program (CEP) from February 17 to February 19, 2023. This programme titled “Resource Optimization in Process Industries” is being organized jointly by the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and the Department of Mathematics, IIT Patna.
Around 50 participants from all across India have registered for this course and enthusiastically participated through online mode. CEP is intended to focus on the basics of convex optimization along with gradient and evolutionary algorithms used for modelling and solutions to problems arising in real life as well as industries.
Moreover, the online programme focuses to provide a forum for reviewing and discussing all aspects of resource optimization in process industries including the domains of process system engineering and process integration.
On the first day, the lecture started with talks by the course coordinators Dr B B Upadhyay and Dr Nitin Dutt Chaturvedi. The day concluded with the lecture of renowned academician Professor Santanu Bandyopadhyay from IIT Bombay. Professor Bandyopadhyay has discussed various methodologies and algorithms for energy or water conservation and sustainable development.
In the remaining days, eminent scholars like Professor S K Neogy, (Head, ISI Delhi Centre), Professor Joydeep Dutta (IIT Kanpur) and Professor A K Agrawal, (IIT BHU) will share their knowledge and thoughts with the participants.
The programme started with the inaugural ceremony addressed by Professor Asif Ekbal (A Dean Resource), Professor Nutan K Tomar (Head, Department of Mathematics) and Professor Sushant Kumar (Head, CBE Department).
