IIT Roorkee delegation visits German university for partnership in research, collaboration

IIT Roorkee and University of Potsdam to strengthen existing exchange programmes and partner on future research and collaborations.

NEW DELHI: A delegation from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) visited the University of Potsdam (UP), Germany to discuss partnership in higher education, research and collaborations.

The meeting between institution officials at the New Palais campus, both sides agreed on strengthening their existing joint master's exchange programme and proposed enhancing the PhD exchange programme and work towards an undergraduate exchange programme.

The institution also discussed their mutual cooperation in hydrology, climatology, and disaster management among others and plans to diversify collaboration. Based on previous excellent cooperation, joint projects, publication records, and regular student and faculty mobility, UP and IITR agreed to establish a partnership.

This agreement aims to secure better administrative support to o structure collaboration programs and joint funding opportunities in other research areas such as clean water, green energy, and carbon capture and utilisation. The IIT Roorkee, director, KK Pant also suggested to host faculty members from UP under various programs at different levels, open to both young and experienced faculty members.

Following this, both institutions agreed to exchange young professors and scientists to share knowledge and research experience, even participating in teaching at the partner institute.

The IIT Roorkee delegation consisted of IITR, director KK Pant; IITR, dean international relations, Vimal Chandra Srivastava; physics professor, P Arumugam; Indo-German project, investigation lead, hydrology, Ankit Agarwal; and international relation office representatives, Ravikant Ranjan and Ravi Kumar.
