IPCW to provide counselling for affected students; requests SHO to expedite investigation
IP College has constituted a committee to look into the grievances raised by the students and to investigate the reasons leading to this unfortunate incident.
NEW DELHI: University of Delhi's Indraprastha College for Women in a statement today said it has taken a serious note of the unfortunate harassment incident that happened during a cultural fest on the campus. It has called upon the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police, Civil Lines, Delhi to expedite the process.
The IP college has also constituted a committee to look into the grievances raised by the students and to investigate the reasons leading to this unfortunate incident.
On March 28, students alleged that some men climbed the college boundary and harassed several women students during the annual 'Shruti' festival at the college.
“Indraprastha College for Women has requested the SHO, Civil Lines to send a lady officer to the College between 12 noon to 3 PM tomorrow ie April 5, 2023, to register the complaints of the students who experienced trauma from the individuals who entered the College premises unauthorisedly,” a public notice dated April 4.
Concerned about the trauma faced by students, the administration has also requested the Counselor of the college to provide counselling to the students. “The Counselor will be available in the counseling room of the College between 3 PM to 6 PM from 5 April 2023 to 8 April 2023,” it said.
Further, it has requested all the stakeholders to provide all relevant information including pictures and videos of the culprits who entered into the college and misbehaved with some of the students.
In a letter, the college has also assured the Delhi Commission for Women that the concerns expressed by the Commission will be seriously considered by the committee constituted by the College and the report of the committee will be submitted to the Commission as soon as the same is available, it informed.
“The management of Indraprastha College for Women is deeply concerned about the safety and security of its students and will take all necessary steps to infuse confidence in the minds of the students, and ensure that such incidents are not repeated in future,” it added.
