Jamia Hamdard to reopen for UG, PG final-year students from September 7

College reopening news: Jamia Hamdard university has decided to reopen in phased-manner for final-year UG, PG students with 50% attendance.

NEW DELHI: Jamia Hamdard University has decided to reopen colleges in phased manner for physical classes for the final-year students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses from September 7 with COVID-19 safety measures. The classes for the final year students will be conducted in blended mode (offline and online).

Final year students of various courses like B Sc, B Tech, B Pharm, BUMS, BBA, M Sc M Tech, MBA, MCA, M Pharma, paramedical sciences and rehabilitation sciences will be able to attend offline classes from September 7 in an afternoon shift with 50% attendance in each shift, Jamia Hamdard said in a statement.

“To ensure health and wellbeing of the students and staff, only those students who are permitted in the first phase will be allowed into the campus,” the statement from Jamia Hamdard said.

The university said that the other undergraduate and postgraduate students will be allowed to return to campus from next week after review. Till then, classes for the rest of the courses will continue to be conducted in online mode.

College reopening

All the students who have been permitted to attend offline classes are “required to produce a genuine Negative RT-PCR Test report and vaccination certificate at the time of entry into the University along with an undertaking/consent signed by their parents.”

Afshar Alam, vice-chancellor, Jamia Hamdard University said: “Everything will be done in a phased and systematic manner. First preference for offline classes will be given to the final year students. After the first phase is implemented, we will see how it goes. Once the exercise is successful, we will extend it to other batches and courses.”

Syed Saud Akhtar, registrar Jamia Hamdard said: “We have worked on the modalities after holding a meeting with all deans of the school. Hopefully from next week, we will be able to reopen the campus in a phased manner. Final-year students will get first preference. It will be a big relief to students who have been finding it hard to continue with offline classes.”

Akhtar added that outstation students will be called to attend offline classes from the first week of September, however, it depends on them. He further said that most of the staff is vaccinated and COVID-19 protocols are in place.

The university also said that if the cases of COVID-19 increase, offline classes will be suspended and students will have to vacate the hostels on short notice.
