NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will not announce Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 dates this week, agency’s director-general Vineet Joshi confirmed, as per an Indian Express report. An NTA official earlier said that JEE Main 2023 exams will likely be conducted in two sessions in mid-January and April. The official also said that the demands of JEE Main 2023 aspirants to hold entrance exams in April are difficult to fulfill as it would result in delay in the commencement of the next academic session. Students requested the NTA to hold the exam in April or May as droppers did not get enough time to prepare.

Meanwhile, the government is reportedly planning to make a fixed calendar for JEE Main exams along with National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), and Common University Entrance Test (CUET) from 2023. The Ministry of Education is likely to announce the new plans this week to streamline the process and avoid discrepancies.

In November, NTA reportedly constituted two expert committees following the technical issues faced by candidates in the exams held in 2022. While one committee is working on the annual schedule of JEE Main, CUET, and NEET to avoid dates clashing, another committee will review the infrastructure of examination centres. The panels include experts from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), central universities, and officials having experience of conducting exams.
