NEW DELHI: Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) has planned to organise an intensive summer camp for students of junior and senior school levels. The JMI summer camp seeks to focus on providing students opportunities to engage in learning activities and develop communication and athletic skills.

The decision to organise a summer camp for students of JMI and other schools was taken during a meeting of vice chancellor of JMI, Najma Akhtar, along with principles of JMI senior and middle schools, among other attendees. A faculty member from the social work department was also present at the meeting. Based on the meeting on May 31, the camp organisers will work with different subject teachers and educational professionals to develop a curriculum and modules for the summer camp.

The modules of the camp will be designed on the basis of the different intelligence levels of participants and their individual differences. Through this, the camp aims to encourage participants to “learn, unlearn and relearn” and develop an all-round personality. The camp curriculum will focus on personality development, critical thinking, sport skills, communication capabilities, life skills, theatre, art and music abilities, and problem-solving skills. For this, students will engage in firsthand experiments and group activities. Students will also be taken on field trips to universities, museums and local landmarks.

JMI will provide experts and professionals to guide participants and encourage innovation, 21st-century skills in students using interactive teaching methods. They are expected to monitor students as they participate in different activities and offer further guidance to students as per their needs.
