JNU to commence offline classes for all students from August 3

NEW DELHI: The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has decided to reopen for offline classes from August 3. “It has been decided to start classes in offline mode in the University by 3rd of August 2022. All the students are hereby required to attend the offline classes from August 3,” said an official statement from JNU.

“All concerned to pay attention please,” JNU tweeted.

In another official notification issued on July 19, the University said that it has also decided to resume offline classes for School of International Studies from August 3. In June, the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) staged a protest demanding the commencement of offline classes for first-year students of the School of International Studies (SIS).

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also staged a demonstration in May demanding offline classes for the School.

The JNU reopened its campus to resume offline classes and in-person teaching in February. The order issued by the JNU stated that the university shall be made fully functional at 100 per cent strength, and all staff members and officers are to attend office on all working days from February 7 onwards. All deans, chairpersons of various schools, centres, special centres were asked to resume offline academic, teaching and learning activities and libraries for students with effect from February 7 in consultation with stakeholders and subject to strict compliance of SOP as per the DDMA order.
