Kashmir University to promote students based on internal assessments

NEW DELHI: University of Kashmir has decided to promote the students of postgraduate and professional undergraduate programmes such as integrated BA-LLB, BBA and BCA to the next semester on the basis of internal assessment.

The head of departments will schedule the internal assessments according to the convenience of students in coming days.

For other undergraduate programmes, the decision will be taken in consultation with the department of higher education.

The decision came after a meeting conducted by a committee constituted by the vice-chancellor under the chairmanship of the dean academic affairs.

“There will be no term-end examinations for current and previous semesters the way we used to have in the past. The students will be promoted to the next semester after evaluating marks of their internal semesters,” a university official said in a report by The Kashmir Monitor.

The committee took cognizance over the UGC recommendations of adopting a mode of assessment through student’s performance in a meeting that took place today.

The KU students had earlier urged vice-chancellor to follow the recommendations of UGC and to not conduct online examinations

The online classes will be continued till August 15 and the assessments will be made in the due course.
