Lucknow University to offer dual degrees to students from 2023-24 session
Lucknow University admission committee approved the implementation of UGC guidelines on dual degree on Tuesday.
NEW DELHI: The University of Lucknow has announced that it will offer dual degrees to students from the next academic session, 2023-24. The university’s admission committee gave its nod for the implementation of dual degree policy announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
In a meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of LU vice-chancellor professor Alok Kumar Rai, it was also decided that seats for MSc food processing and food technology will be increased from 30 to 40 from the coming session, as per a Hindustan Times report shared by the university on its official Twitter page.
A university official reportedly said that the admission committee approved the implementation of UGC guidelines for dual degree programmes wherein students will be allowed to pursue two academic programmes simultaneously. The modalities for the new step will be finalized later, as per report.
On April 12, UGC chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar announced in a virtual meeting that students will now be able to pursue two full-time academic programmes simultaneously either at the same university or two different universities.
According to the UGC guidelines, a student can pursue two full-time academic programmes in offline mode given that the class timings of one programme don’t overlap with timings of the other programme. Students can also pursue one course in full-time physical mode with another in online or open, distance learning mode. Moreover, the guidelines also allow students to pursue one online programme with another online programme.
