MoS for education launches IGNOU’s online PG Diploma course

NEW DELHI: Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, minister of state for education launched the online PG Diploma course in sustainability science (PGDSS) by the Indira Gandhi National Open University on Friday. The PG Diploma programme will be offered by IGNOU's School of Interdisciplinary and Trans-disciplinary Studies (SOITS).

The minimum eligibility criterion for PG Diploma in sustainability science is a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. Students can apply on this portal - https://ignouiop.samarth.edu.in/

Sunitra Kukreti, Pro Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, said that this programme will help create awareness around sustainable development.

Rajkumar Ranjan Singh referred to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and said that the skills required for the environment sector will also generate employment and is in consonance with the new education policy.

“The PGDSS programme mainly focuses on the genesis and principles of sustainable development, its tools, implementation and assessment strategies in a holistic way,” says a statement from IGNOU.

“This programme shall equip the students as professional sustainability experts, project officers, Sustainability Analysts, etc. who can handle the cross cutting social issues to join National & International organizations. It will enhance the potential of freelance writers and journalists in the field of sustainable development,” further said the statement.

IGNOU recently launched a PG Diploma programme in digital media and PG courses in information Security and entrepreneurship for the July session.
