Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics's NSS unit hosts residential camp

The NSS unit of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics organised sports day, awareness session, donation camp and many other social activities.

NEW DELHI: Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics’ hosted its annual residential camp, ‘Camp Umeed’ from January 26 to February 1, 2023. The event was organized by the NSS unit of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics in collaboration with the Eklavya Swavalamban Trust.

The students conducted a wide array of activities as a part of their social service initiative which include agricultural mulching in rural areas, sports day, awareness session, donation camp and many more.

The sports day event for 200+ resident students in the ashram school at Gargoan, Maharashtra where games such as volleyball, cricket and kho-kho were played. It concluded with a prize distribution wherein stationery kits, notebooks, and sports equipment like cricket bats, balls, and volleyball and volleyball net were donated to the winners. To encourage girls to play cricket, cricket bats were donated to them.

An awareness session on menstrual hygiene was conducted with 90+ girls in the school followed by a pad donation drive where 1000 pads were donated to the young girls. Along with this self-defence session was conducted with 100+ girls teaching them about self-protection.

Sessions on topics such as good touch and bad touch were conducted with little kids. There was also a spoken English session with students.

The official release of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics reads: “Our team performed nukkad natak on the topic of gender equality in the Zilla parishad school of Gargoan. We also conducted talent hunt event in the Zilla parishad school where Drawing and essay competitions were held and stationery kits were donated. Our team conducted medical camp in Ujjani village which was attended by 50+ villagers. Along with this medical survey was done of 370 residents of the villages where information about their medical history and income levels was gathered.”

The team also conducted a massive donation drive where 200 kgs of clothes, stationery and blankets were donated in the Ujjani and Sakharshet villages. Wall painting in schools and campsites along with food distribution was also undertaken.
