NEW DELHI: The National Overseas Scholarship (NOS) portal will open from February 15, 2023 for applications. Eligible students will be able to register on the official website – nosmsje.in. The last date to apply is March 31. Under this scholarship scheme, 125 students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers and Traditional Artisans category will get scholarship to study masters or PhD degree courses abroad.

“The NOS portal will open from 15-02-2023 for a period of 45 days i.e. till 31-03-2023 (Mid night) for submission of online application through the Portal. All the desired candidates are advised to go through the Scheme Guidelines of NOS (SC) 2023-24 before submission of application (Scheme guidelines are available on the portal),” read the official website.

30% of the scholarship will be earmarked for women candidates. In February last year, the ministry of social justice and empowerment (MSJE) issued new guidelines for the NOS scheme dropping “topics and courses concerning Indian culture / heritage / history / social studies on India-based research topics”.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have at least 60% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying exam. In case of PhD courses, the qualifying exam would be master’s degree and for master’s degree courses, the qualifying exam would be bachelor's degree. In case a student has completed bachelor's of engineering after completing Diploma (Lateral Entry to 2nd year), percentage of marks obtained in Bachelor's degree will be considered.
  • Candidate should not be more than 35 years, as on the first day of April for selection year.
  • Total family income should not exceed Rs 8 lakh per annum.

  • 10th Board Certificate
  • Caste Certificate
  • Photo
  • Scanned Signature
  • Current Address proof/Permanent Address Proof, in case different
  • from current address
  • Qualifying Degree/Provisional Certificate
  • Mark sheet of qualifying examination
  • Valid Document regarding admission in Foreign University (Application, Registration or Admission related document)
  • Income documents of all family members
  • Employer's NOC Certificate if applicant is employed. Gap certificate in case there is gap of more than 6 months after completing qualifying degree.
  • ITR acceptance document.
  • Aadhar Card
