“The reason they don't disclose the question bank of NEET PG is because it is very limited. The sanctity of the exam will be disturbed,” Justice Chandrachud said.

Responding to this, Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan, appearing for the petitioners, said that there are 16 lakh under-graduates who sit for NEET-UG, “while only about 1.75 lakh, less than 10%, who are all doctors, who take the NEET-PG”.

Advocate Sankaranarayanan further said that some level of transparency is required. “In NEET UG 2021, there is OMR sheet, it does not provide any clue regarding what the question paper is. We don't mind the same method being adopted for PG.”

The petition also sought direction to allow candidates appearing for the medical postgraduate entrance exam with an option to raise challenge against the answer key in case of dispute questions.

It also requested “to direct establishment of a high-power committee to examine instances of alleged discrepancy been raised by thousands of candidates across the country in order to ensure fairness and transparency in the evaluation mechanism”.

Over 400 aspirants alleged discrepancies in the NEET PG 2021 result and filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking answer keys, response sheets. THe NBE has, however, “strongly denied” the allegations levelled against them.
