NEW DELHI: The announcement of National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2022 counselling date, September 1, didn’t come as good news amongst doctors as candidates asked reasons for delay in counselling and ‘logic’ behind not postponing exam despite requests as well as declaration of result within 10 days. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Supreme Court faced candidates’ wrath for turning down postponement request stating that it will lead to deficiency of doctors.

"Also, inspections of medical colleges are being carried out by the NMC and the last date of issuing letter of permission is August 15. Hence, it has been decided to start the counselling process from September 1 so that all the new seats can be included in the first round of counselling itself," a senior official said.

A candidate said on Twitter, “NEETPG2022 Counselling to begin from 1st sept. 2022 Huge gap between exam, #results and #councelling. No official statement or notice yet. Earlier demands to #PostponeNEETPG was turned down citing shortage of doctors. What an irony.”

Another candidate questioned holding the exam early and wrote, “What was the point of the early exam ?? Putting medicos in depression ??destroying their career ?? Making them feel they are not doing good enough ?? Questioning their self worth?”

A doctor tweeted, “I am still wondering Why they Conduct #NEETPG2022 in May, if they want Counselling in Sept.? What's the Logic?? @mansukhmandviya HM ji why?? Now what happened to your Patient Care Model? Normalcy? And less number of Doctors? Etc. Etc. excuses you made.”

“Will only postponing #NEETPG2022 Exam will cause deficiency of doctors, delayed counselling doesn’t account to it?,” asked a candidate on Twitter.

A Twitter user asked Mandaviya to resign and said, “What is the freaking point of conducting #NEETPG2022 10 days after the #NEETPG2021 counselling if you were to delay this counselling so much? All we asked for was a 2 months postponement. #SupremeCourtOfIndia are you even alive today?”

An aspirant demanded clarification on delay and said, “What was the point of not postponing anyway if there was nothing to happen following that for almost 3 months...students should have a clear cut clarification.”
