NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will today pronounce reasons for its order allowing NEET PG 2021 Counselling with the existing OBC-EWS quota in All India Quota (AIQ) seats. The top court closed the arguments after two days of hearing and gave its verdict on January 7, 2022. Supreme Court had earlier said that the petition on the EWS quota is scheduled for a final hearing in the third week of March.

A bench of justices DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna on January 7 said, “Validity of OBC reservation in NEET PG and UG has been upheld.” Justice DY Chandrachud says, "We accept the recommendation of the Pandey committee to apply the criteria from next year. Counselling shall be conducted by giving effect to the reservation.”

Resident doctors across the country who had been protesting for weeks over the delay in NEET PG Counselling 2021 welcomed the verdict, however, a section of students were unhappy.

Following the SC’s decision on 10% EWS, 27% OBC reservation criteria, the Medical Counselling Commission (MCC) announced the NEET PG Counselling 2021 registration schedule. However, the medical aspirants are concerned about the clash between NEET PG Counselling 2021 and NEET PG 2022 exam. The NEET PG 2022 exam date is March 12 and the last date to join after the NEET PG Counselling stray round is March 16, 2022.

As per the NEET PG Counselling 2021 schedule, the allotment of seats for NEET PG counselling round 1 will be declared today, January 20 to 21.

Meanwhile, NEET UG 2021 counselling registration began at mcc.nic.in. Candidates can apply till January 24, 2022, for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats, 100% seats in deemed/central universities, ESIC, AFMS, AIIMS, and JIPMER institutes, which are available for undergraduate medical and allied courses across the country.
