IIT Gandhinagar Signs agreement with Four New Jersey Universities

NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 21: IIT Gandhinagar has signed agreements for academic and research collaborations with four public universities in New Jersey, United States. The agreements will facilitate internships and short-term exchange programmes between the institutions.

The New Jersey Institute of Technology, New Jersey City University, Rutgers University and Rowan University signed the agreements at the Global Academic Exchange Forum hosted by the IIT on Saturday.

“Globalisation is one of the core pillars of IIT Gandhinagar’s educational philosophy. We are excited about partnering with some of New Jersey’s leading public universities to create new opportunities for students and faculty of our institution,” Said Prof. Sudhir Jain, Director, IIT Gandhinagar.

As one of the most globalized campuses in India, 40% of IIT Gandhinagar’s undergraduates and 75% of PhD students get opportunities to study abroad. Additionally, 80% of the faculty has an overseas degree or post-doctoral experience abroad while 15% of the faculty are from outside India, the institution said.

“New Jersey City University (NJCU) is honoured to enter into this partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar to promote student and faculty exchanges and short term programs between the two institutions,” said New Jersey City University President, Sue Henderson.

Following the forum, IIT Gandhinagar also hosted a town hall addressed by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.
