IIM Calcutta hosts virtually the 59th Foundation Day Lecture

NEW DELHI - Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, celebrated its Foundation Day yesterday in virtual mode. Governor of Mizoram and alumni, Amolak Rattan Kohli delivered the Foundation Day Lecture in online mode and also felicitated fourteen of its alumni for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields. The alumnus award ceremony was also conducted in online mode. In his address to the students he encouraged students to use their expertise for the upliftment of the poor and unshackle the marginalised section of society.

Highlights of the year for IIM Calcutta and welcome speech

IIM Calcutta Director Prof Anju Seth in her welcome address hailed everyone for the progress that they made in the challenging circumstances which were caused due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Talking of the highlights of the year Professor Seth expressed gratitude to the West Bengal government for granting 5 acres of land at New Town in order to facilitate the goal of building world-class futuristic infrastructure for a satellite campus.

Meanwhile, Shrikrishna Kulkarni, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Calcutta in his address stated that “students must equip themselves with the following skills to be effective leaders. They must create networks of partnerships for their organisation to be sustainable, scalable and survive disruptions and failures.” He further added that the need of the hour is that students comprehend data, artificial intelligence and cyber security. Also he called the students to culturally have a mindset of collaboration in this inter-connected world.
