NEW DELHI: National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced that the National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) has been stalled till further orders as it has not got the approval for the current session from the ministry of education.

The NCERT in its latest notice informed that “the National Talent Search Scheme was approved till March 31, 2021. The further implementation of the scheme in its present form has not been approved and has been stalled till further orders.” The National Talent Search Scheme is fully funded by the ministry of education, Government of India.

NTSE scholarship exam for Class 10 students is held in two-stages in offline mode to encourage higher studies in the field of science and social science.

The council conducted NTSE stage 2 exams last year on October 24 at 68 centres across the country. The NTSE final result was announced on February 18, 2022, on the official website, ncert.nic.in/national-talent-examination. On April 28, the NCERT had issued e-A ward Letter for candidates who qualified National Talent Search Examination 2021.

Is NTSE 2022 cancelled?

The NTSE exam for 2022 has been put on hold by the NCERT as it is yet to get the approval for the current session 2022-23 from the education ministry. The NTSE scheme was approved till March 31, 2021, as per the official notice.

What is NTSE?

The National Council for Educational Research and Training (NTSE) scholarship under the present scheme is awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in science and social science up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second-degree level.

Class 10 students of Indian nationality, whether they study in India or abroad, are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The state-level examination has two parts: Part-I Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Part-II Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Only candidates qualifying in both the papers separately will be considered for merit.

The awardees are eligible to receive scholarship up to PhD level whereas the awardees studying professional courses in medicines, engineering, technology, management and law, are eligible to receive the scholarship up to second degree level.
