#PostponeGATE2022: Students campaign on Twitter urging IIT Kharagpur to postpone exam

NEW DELHI: A week before Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 for admission to postgraduate programmes and recruitment in the public sector, students have started demanding to postpone the exam amid COVID scare. Aspirants have started posting on Twitter with hashtag #postponegate2022.

A Twitter user listed down all the government exams which were cancelled due to COVID-19 and asked IIT Kharagpur to postpone the exam.

A student said on Twitter, “See what are all the mental stress you given to us gate2022iitkgp In this situation how we are concentrate in studies.Totally we have spent 1 year for this exam. At last because of your guidelines and your silence makes us all our hardwork will get fail #postponegate2022”

A GATE exam preparation academy came in support of students and tweeted: “Dear IITKgp ! Don't play with our students' life, We urge you to #postponegate2022 for our student's safety. We stand with our students!”

Another student tweeted: “Our health and problems are joke to gate2022iitkgp IITKgp They are not giving any response to the aspirants for whom they are conducting #gateexam #postponegate2022 #delayGATE2022”

A Twitter user said: “#postponegate2022 Its our honor to say that IITKgp has won "Hypocrite Of The Year Award". I know i know its just January and you are giving an annual award in the start of the year. I am giving this because I know that no one can surpass the hypocrisy of IITKgp”

National General Secretary of NSUI also joined the trends and tweeted: “This is not the right time to conduct exams with a high risk of students' life. Students are already in stress due to current situation of pandemic and it is not the time to give them more mental trauma #postponegate2022”

A Twitter user mentioned postponement of other exams and asked IIT Kharagpur to defer GATE 2022.

NSUI Bihar also tweeted: “No one considers the Mental Pressures and battles that engineers preparing for entrance exam have to go through. #postponegate2022”

Another Congressian, National Secretary at IndianYouthCongress tweeted: “Delaying or postpone is the best way to support students in this third wave of pandemic, Government has to ensure the security of the students too, the rude behaviour of IITKgp is not the way of any reputated institute with their future students ! #postponegate2022 #delayGATE22”
