NEW DELHI: Registration for the digital Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is underway for admission to undergraduate programmes at colleges and universities both across the country and abroad. SAT is conducted by College Board. The last date for SAT test 1 registration is February 24 and the first test has been scheduled to be held on March 11. The SAT second and third tests will be held on May 6 and June 3 respectively. Candidates can register at satsuite.collegeboard.org.

SAT scores are accepted by thousands of colleges and universities worldwide, an official statement said, adding that there are more than 60 universities in and outside of India, use the SAT as a way to measure students’ readiness for university.

The test, the official statement says, opens doors to multiple scholarship opportunities for Indian students at leading institutions in and outside India via the India scholars programme.

The India scholars programme also offers lower-income students up to 90 per cent off on SAT registration fees and scholarships at participating Indian universities, including some that cover the full tuition through graduation.

Earlier SAT was held in offline mode, while this year the test will be conducted in online mode.

SAT Digital New Exam Features

  • The emphasis of the SAT digital is "students' access to technology."

  • Students will use a laptop or tablet to take the exam.

  • Instead of lasting three hours, the test will only last two hours.

  • Shorter reading passages covering a wide range of topics will be used.

  • Math problems will be shorter and students will be permitted to utilize calculators throughout the whole Math part.

  • Results will be delivered to students sooner. Scorecards will be produced in days rather than weeks.

  • Previously, international students could only take five SATs in a calendar year and now there are 7 test dates this year

  • On their own device or one provided by their school, students can take the digital SAT exam. Students can request a device at the time of registration.

  • If the internet connection stops or the computer crashes in the middle of the test, the students won't lose any time or work. Simply reconnect the test or plug it in again.

  • Students will also have access to information about nearby two-year institutions and programs for workforce training through SAT exam score reports.
