RV University, upGrad to launch MTech programme in data science

NEW DELHI: RV University, Bangalore signs an agreement with upGrad, an edtech platform to offer a MTech programme in data science. The collaboration aims to offer industry-relevant curriculum to train students as per industry requirements.

Both full time and part-time MTech programme in data science will be offered for working professionals from 2023 under the collaboration. The highlights of the joint programme are job-ready and industry-relevant specialisations, live- case studies and projects from industry, mentorship by industry experts, in-depth experience with the latest tools and skills.

The courses will be delivered by RV University and upGrad. The upGrad course offering consists of seven specialisations over two years and will include live sessions with experts on campus for clearing doubts and hands-on activities. The courses taught will include, advanced concepts in programming, mathematics, domain specific subjects in data science, big data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, besides specialisation and industry driven projects among others.

A modular design based on trimesters will be followed to support work deadlines and engagements. The students can exit with a post graduate diploma as per National Education Policy (NEP) or accumulate credits in the Academic Bank of Credits. For the full-time course, the 2nd year will involve internship, research and product development. For the part-time candidates, credits for work in industry will be given.

The curriculum supports interdisciplinary study with courses from other Schools in RVU, besides Internships and study abroad during the final year. The upGrad campus focuses on getting college students become industry-ready and bridge the gap between the college curriculum and industry requirements. After completion of the programme, RV University will award the students with a degree while upGrad campus will provide a certificate to the students enrolled in this joint course.
