NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has pulled up Centre, National Board of Examinations, and National Medical Commission for making last minute changes in exam pattern of Post Graduate National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Super Specialty, NEET SS 2021, as per a report from Asian News Network.

“Supreme Court pulls up the Centre, National Board of Examinations & National Medical Commission for making the last-minute change in the exam pattern of Post Graduate National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Super Specialty (NEET-SS) 2021,” ANI said in a social media post.

ANI added: “Supreme Court says young doctors cannot be at the mercy of the insensitive bureaucrats and cannot be treated like a football.”

On September 20, the Supreme Court issued a notice and sought responses to Centre, NBE, and NMC in a writ petition filed by 41 PG qualified doctors challenging abrupt ‘last-minute changes’ in the NEET SS 2021 exam pattern. The top court said it will hear next Monday as additional documents are to be filed and served to respondents.

As per the existing NEET SS 2021 exam pattern, 60% of marks are from the speciality and 40% from generic feeder courses.

"The proposed new pattern is forcing all the candidates from above-mentioned broad specialties to write a single paper which will have 100 per cent questions from General Medicine. There will be no questions from broad specialties of other four post-graduate branches. The pattern is not just a waste of time and effort for all those who have prepared for critical care but also grossly biased against few broad specialties," the plea said as per PTI report.

The doctors have said that the dates for the examination were announced on July 23 but the changed pattern was made public on August 31. NEET SS 2021 is scheduled to be held on November 13 and 14.
