NEW DELHI: As the Covid-19 graph is on the rise once again, states shut schools, colleges and universities and some deferred board exam 2022 and semester exams. Apprehensive about the possible spike in Covid-19, Omicron cases in India, CBSE, CISCE, state boards like Uttar Pradesh board, Bihar board have given updates on Class 10, 12 board exam 2022.

Several universities including Lucknow University, University of Hyderbad have asked students to vacate hostels due to the Covid-19 third-wave and rise in Omicron cases. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, IIT Kharagpur among other IITs also reported fresh Covid-19 cases on campus. Covid-19 guidelines have been issued by educational institutions to curb the spread of infection.

Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education has postponed the RBSE Class 12 practical examination, which was scheduled to start on January 17, 2022. The new dates for the RBSE 12th exam 2022 will be announced soon.

Bihar Board on the other hand said that the Class 10, 12 exams 2022 will be held as per schedule. The BSEB Class 12 exams will begin on February 1, while Class 10 exams will commence on February 17, 2022. In a new rule, Bihar Board will allow candidates to appear for the Bihar Board exam 2022 by producing Aadhaar card.

A total of 51,74,583 students who applied for the UP Board Class 10, 12 board exams are waiting for the UPMSP board exam dates at upmsp.edu.in. However, Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is expected to conduct UP Class 10, 12 board exams 2022 after March 10 as the state will go to poll in seven phases from February 10 to March 7, 2022.

In the latest update, Covid-19 vaccination for children in the 12-14 age group will likely begin in March as the 15-18 population is expected to get fully vaccinated by then, said Dr N K Arora, chairman of the COVID-19 working group of NTAGI, as per a report. According to him, there is an estimated 7.5 crore population in the 12-14 age group.

Active COVID-19 cases highest in 237 days

India added 3,37,704 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,89,03,731, which includes 10,050 cases of the Omicron variant, according to Union health ministry data updated on Saturday. COVID-19 Vaccination: Omicron-neutralising antibodies did not decline in people vaccinated with Russia's Sputnik V vaccine as much it did in those vaccinated with Pfizer vaccine, says a small joint Russian-Italian study funded by the Russian direct investment fund which markets Sputnik V. The study was conducted by scientists from the Spallanzani Institute in Italy and Gamaleya Institute in Russia, the developer of the vaccine. The study, which is yet-to-be peer-reviewed, found out that individuals vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine have more than 2 times higher levels of Omicron variant neutralising antibodies than two doses of Pfizer vaccine, reported the PTI.

The IIM Ahmedabad has decided to get rid of the bachelor’s degree component from the shortlisting criteria for PG admission 2022 and to apply it uniformly to all the candidates. The IIM Ahmedabad had also made changes in the eligibility criteria for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2021 in August 2021.  

“CAT Committee of 2021 had allowed candidates to take CAT 2021 without requiring any minimum percentage of marks in bachelor’s degree as many universities could not conduct exams and gave certificates to candidates based on different criteria due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On account of this, the Admissions Committee of IIM Ahmedabad decided to do away with the bachelor’s degree component from the shortlisting criteria and to apply it uniformly to all the candidates,” IIM Ahmedabad’s said in the official website.

Arunachal logs 404 new COVID-19 cases today

Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday reported the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases so far this month, as 404 more people tested positive for the virus, raising the tally to 57,037, a senior health department official said.

Omicron Cases in India Today

There has been an 8.31% increase in Omicron cases since Monday, the ministry said. As per the PTI report, experts said it is not possible to undertake genome sequencing of each and every sample but stressed that the current wave is largely being driven by the Omicron variant. The active cases comprise 4.62 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has decreased to 94.09 per cent, the ministry said.

Covid-19 vaccination for children in the 12-14 age group will likely begin in March as the 15-18 population is expected to get fully vaccinated by then, said Dr N K Arora, chairman of the COVID-19 working group of NTAGI, as per a report. According to him, there is an estimated 7.5 crore population in the 12-14 age group.

Covid-19 third wave has reached its peak in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata: IIT Kanpur Professor

The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has requested all students residing on the campus and attending online classes to vacate their hostels and head home in view of the surge in the number of COVID-19 positive cases on the campus. “The students may come back when the Covid situation improves, in which case the university will notify,” said a letter from the dean students’ welfare, UoH.

The Tamil Nadu government has completed 100% Covid-19 vaccination for state-run school students of 15-18 years of age, Tamil Nadu health minister M Subramanian said on Monday. As far as government schools in Tamil Nadu are concerned, the vaccination for students in the 15 to 18 age group was inaugurated by chief minister M K Stalin here on January 3, the Minister said.

MP Board announces Class 10, 12 exam dates for pre-board exams

Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has announced the pre-board Class 10 and 12 exam dates. The MP Board exam 2022 time table is released on the official website, mpbse.nic.in 2022. The Class 10 and 12 pre-board exams will be conducted from January 20, 2022. The MP board exam 2022 for Class 10 will end on January 28, 2022, while MP board Class 12 exams will conclude on January 31, 2022.

Bihar board exam 2022 will not be postponed: Report

Active COVID-19 cases in country highest in 230 days

With 2,38,018 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,76,18,271, which includes 8,891 cases of the Omicron variant, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The active cases have increased to 17,36,628, the highest in 230 days, while the death toll has climbed to 4,86,761 with 310 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
